For more than four decades, until his fashion house closed in 2002, Yves Saint Laurent and his designs were photographed by Richard Avedon, Irving Penn, David Bailey, Helmut Newton, William Klein, Sarah Moon, Annie Leibovitz, Paolo Roversi and Juergen Teller, among others. Their pictures helped shape the image of the couturier and of his house, and the book reads them as a history of both fashion and twentieth-century photography.
Fashion photographs of Audrey Hepburn, Catherine Deneuve, Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss appear alongside portraits of Saint Laurent and archival documents not previously shown. The hardback is published in an oversized format of 312 x 248 mm with 160 pages.
