Japanese homes are shaped by an aesthetic of calm and reduction rooted in Eastern minimalism. This collection places traditional architecture beside contemporary houses that reinterpret inherited building forms and techniques, and many of its photographs have not been published before.
The photographs are by Reto Guntli, a Swiss photographer based in Zurich. The texts are by Alex Kerr, author of Lost Japan and Another Kyoto, and Kathy Arlyn Sokol, his co-author on Another Kyoto. Angelika Taschen edited the book. This edition from TASCHEN’s 45th Edition series is a hardcover with 480 pages and text in German, French and English.
