Before his formal shoots, Helmut Newton made test Polaroids to prepare the picture. These instant prints show the same eye for strong, striking women as his finished work, and their candour gives a close view of how he worked.
This collection brings a selection of the test Polaroids together. Newton, who lived from 1920 to 2004, first became internationally known through his work for Vogue in the 1970s. The text is by Matthias Harder, director of the Helmut Newton Foundation in Berlin since 2019. The hardcover has 224 pages in German, English and French.
