This book follows electric lighting through the 20th century, from Tiffany’s leaded-glass shades to the unconventional designs of the late 1960s and 1970s and on to recent LED technology. The 1000 lights are arranged chronologically, decade by decade, so that changes in materials, technology and form can be read across the century.
The selection was compiled and edited by Charlotte and Peter Fiell, authors of more than 70 books on the history, theory and criticism of design. The volume appears in TASCHEN’s Bibliotheca Universalis series as a hardcover with 640 pages and text in German, French and English.
