Noir Porto Rico smells of barrel aging and the wee hours of the night. The opening is outrageously boozy: bourbon whiskey meets molasses and sugarcane, while a juicy nectarine keeps the whole thing from becoming too heavy right away. The heart is where the real story unfolds. Cuban tobacco, rum, and cognac intertwine with oak and dried fruit to form a dense, dark texture, while coconut adds a creamy roundness and spices provide a bit of edge. The base lingers for a very long time: cedarwood and guaiac wood meet honey and vanilla—resinous, sweet, and smoky all at once. Noir Porto Rico has above-average sillage and is the boldest of the three new releases. Use sparingly.
